Where to play sand volleyball in the Cincinnati area 🏐

Cincinnati is nowhere near the ocean. The area may lack saltwater beaches, but it does not lack sand volleyball courts. There are quite a few in our region. If you are healthy enough to jump and use at least one hand, you can play volleyball in the sand.

We'll bump, set and spike around Greater Cincinnati's various neighborhoods and regions with this fridge-worthy guide. Now, let's dig in.

NORTH

Cincinnati Sand Volleyball Club

The club hosts men’s, women’s and coed sand volleyball games. They have spring (for adults), summer (for adults), fall (for adults and youth), youth, high school, college and adult leagues. There are two, four and six-person leagues. Adult two-person leagues cost $130, four-person leagues cost $260 and six-person leagues cost $390. Youth, high school, and college leagues cost $390.

Grand Sands Volleyball

This venue is a restaurant and bar that hosts sand volleyball leagues and tournaments from Sunday through Friday. There are men’s, women’s and coed leagues. The summer session costs $148 for two-person leagues, $296 for four-person leagues and $444 for six-person leagues. Open play is available on Sunday and costs $8 per person.

Kings Island Soak City

Kings Island’s water park, Soak City, has sand volleyball. The water park also features 36 water slides, two wave pools and additional attractions.

Land of Illusion Adventure Park

This water park has sand volleyball courts and six-on-six coed volleyball leagues. It also features an inflatable water slide and a Wibit Adventure Zone on its lake.

Swaim Park 

The park has sand volleyball courts. It also has tennis courts, fishing, baseball fields and playgrounds. Hours of operation are from sunrise to sundown.

Warren County Armco Park

This 311-acre park has sand volleyball courts. It also offers an 18-hole golf course, a 110-acre lake for fishing and boating, tennis courts, pickleball, disc golf course, gaga pits, nature playscape solar array, basketball courts, horseshoe pits and cornhole. The park is open every day, weather permitting, and always closes at dusk. It opens at 7 a.m. from April to August and at 8 a.m. from September to March.

Weller Park

The park has sand volleyball courts. It also has soccer fields, baseball fields, ping pong tables and tennis courts. Hours of operation are from sunrise to sundown.

EAST

Coney Island Park

Cincinnati’s oldest park has sand volleyball. It also features Sunlite Pool, water slides, Typhoon Twister – a “sprayground,” mini-golf and additional attractions.

Fifty West Cincinnati

This beer company hosts outdoor volleyball leagues. It also offers pickleball, cornhole and cycling. They hold several sand volleyball sessions throughout the year. Players can mix and match beer buckets on ice while playing volleyball. Fifty West has core flavors and rotating seasonal beers. Volleyball courts are available for rent from Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for $60 per hour. Players can reserve the courts by emailing info@fiftywestbrew.com.

Highland County YMCA

This YMCA branch features a sand volleyball court. It also has a fitness center, indoor pool, sauna and basketball court. Membership is required.

Knotty Pine Rock Club & Tiki Bar

This restaurant hosts sand volleyball leagues. There are four-person and six-person competitive leagues and women’s six-person leagues. The restaurant also features a Tiki bar, live music, pool leagues and dart leagues.

Setters Cincy

This venue offers indoor and outdoor sand volleyball. They also have a Tiki bar, pizza,  cornhole and dodgeball. Sand volleyball leagues last eight to nine weeks. The cost is $150 to $160 for two-person leagues, $300 to $320 for four-person leagues and $450 to $480 for six-person leagues.

Upper Deck at the Cove

This venue has seven sand volleyball courts, a tropical cabana bar that serves food and drinks, and sometimes live music. It hosts spring, summer and fall sand volleyball leagues. The leagues have two, four or six players.

WEST

Game Time Sports Bar & Grill

This bar hosts sand volleyball leagues from Sunday to Friday. The competitive four-person league plays on Sunday. It costs $120 in the fall and $180 in the spring and summer. The six-person league costs $180 in the fall and $270 in the spring and summer. Monday is reserved for the women’s six-person league, and the coed six-person league plays from Tuesday through Friday.

CENTRAL

Sawyer Point Sand Volleyball Court

This city park features three sand volleyball courts. Sawyer Point is a popular spot for open play sand volleyball and gets as many as 60 players at a time. Last September, the park hosted a sand volleyball tournament, and it will host another this year.

SOUTH

Oakbrook Park   

This county park has a small sand volleyball court for its residents.

Southern Lane Sports Center

The sports center offers two indoor and two outdoor sand volleyball courts. It hosts coed and women’s double, quad and six-person leagues. The venue also has a restaurant and bar with music, bowling, billiards and cornhole. Volleyball leagues play on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., and Wednesday from 6:30 to 11:10 p.m.  The cost is $65 per person for eight weeks.
