Where road construction is happening in Indianapolis in February

Updated to reflect an extension to a closure related to the North Split project.

Drivers on Interstates 65 and 70 through downtown Indianapolis should notice a new pattern at the start of February thanks to a shifting of road closures for continued work on the interchange.

Heading from I-65 southbound to I-70 eastbound, motorists are now being redirected to temporary lanes over the newly built Lewis Street bridge, while crews continue to build and pave elsewhere.

Other North Split closures have been extended or adjusted due to the recent spate of extremely low temperatures. Lewis Street is expected to open Feb. 1, and Vermont Street, Feb. 5.

Expect some lane shifts in February around construction on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail expansions on Indiana Avenue and South Street, as crews remove some existing roadway and sidewalk, relocate utilities and install electrical lines for new trail lighting.
