Where to see Christmas lights in Lafayette: Acadian Village, drive-thru lights

Lafayette and Acadiana are lighting up for the holidays.

Acadian Village will transform into a brightly lit winter wonderland with half a million lights, holiday displays, live music, carnival rides and photos with Santa. Noel Acadien au Village .

The annual festival benefits LARC, a nonprofit that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It serves more than 200 people in its day programs, group homes and job training programs.

The village lights up nightly from 5:30-9 p.m. from Dec. 2 to Dec. 23, weather permitting.

For the first time, Bridge Point Farms is hosting a drive-thru Christmas light display on its 24-acre property.

The drive-thru, which features nearly half a million lights, is open nightly from 6-11 p.m. until Dec. 24. It should take about 15 minutes to drive through the lights.

It costs $25 per standard vehicle and $40 for commercial vehicles like buses, vans and limos. Tickets are available online or at the gate with cash payment.

When and where: Sonic Christmas Parade, tree lighting in Lafayette

Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit the farm every weekend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visitors can eat cookies with the jolly couple, take a photo with Santa, write a letter to Santa and sit in on story time with Mrs. Claus. Visitors also will go home with a souvenir cup. Rides on the Bridge Point Express are also available.

Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance.

Another way to view Christmas lights from the comfort of a car is viewing the 12 Yards of Christmas.

The light tour started with 12 specific homes throughout Acadiana that were specifically decorated for others to view and has since grown to include more houses that want to join.

The map will be available Dec. 4 and be updated daily.

The last stop of the tour is at One Church in Lafayette. The light show at the church features more than 20,000 lights synchronized to music.
