Where to see fireworks and other July 4th events in the Mohawk Valley

Fireworks will light up the skies in different parts of the Mohawk Valley to celebrate July 4 with many festivities starting as early as this Thursday. Festivities include fireworks at dusk, the return of Independence Day parades, food trucks, BBQs and more.

Utica's Independence Day parade and festivities: Monday, July 4

The Independence Day parade will start at 10 a.m. on Genesee Street in front of St. Elizabeth Campus of the Mohawk Valley Health System and head north, turning right onto Memorial Parkway and ending at the Parkway Recreation Center.

The city’s Party in the Park will kick off later that day at 7 p.m. and will be held in FT Proctor Park. The event will feature food vendors, bounce houses, music from local band Last Left and fireworks at dusk.

Utica's Independence Day parade returns this year after being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the city held a celebration at Proctor Park with fireworks last year.

Fireworks over Herkimer: Thursday, June 30

Fireworks over Herkimer will go from 6 to 10 p.m. at Herkimer Community College, located at 100 Reservoir Rd. in Herkimer. The firework display will start at dusk in an event that will also have food and family-friendly entertainment like bounce houses, vendor displays and musical performances by Soul Injection. If it rains, the event will be pushed to July 7.

Boonville's Firework Show: Friday, July 1

This Friday, people can bring their lawn chairs to Boonville's fireworks show, which starts at dusk. The event, which will include other festivities and musical performances by the band Broken Rule, will begin earlier at 6 p.m. at Erwin Park.

Fireworks over Holland Patent: Sunday, July 3

Holland Patent's skies will light up at 9:15 p.m., but before that, there will be musical performances, food and more at 8833 Soule Rd. Parking lot opens at 3 p.m. with gates opening at 4 p.m.

Artists like Jimmy Wolf, Spoony and The Tone Chasers and Uncle Charlie and the Meatballs will perform.

Clinton's July 4th fireworks and activities: Monday, July 4

The Village of Clinton will not have an Independence Day parade this year, but there will be musical entertainment by the band Midnight Mike and the Bent Blind and ice cream from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Village Green park hosted by the Clinton Historical Society.

Fireworks will take place at 9:30 p.m. on Clinton Central School grounds across from the Clinton Community Pool on Norton Avenue. Rain date is scheduled for July 8.

Sylvan Beach Independence Day Vendor & Crafter Show: July 2-3 weekend

For a quieter Independence Day, Sylvan Beach won't have fireworks, but will host a weekend-long vendor and crafter show, which goes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 2-3 at Village Green on Main Street.

On Saturday, people can also participate on Chalk the Walk in downtown Sylvan Beach from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is open to all ages and people can register by emailing name, age and phone number to artclasses@faidley.net. Rain date is scheduled for July 3.

Cazenovia's 4th of July parade and fireworks: Monday, July 4

Cazenovia's parade starts at 12:30 p.m. at Lincklaen and Albany streets with a firework display above Cazenovia Lake beginning at 9:15 p.m.

Other festivities that day include the 4th of July 5K & 10K Races at 8 a.m., live music at at Lakeland Park with DeSantis Orchestra and a July 4 backyard BBQ pig roast at 1:30 p.m. at Meier's Creek Brewing Company.
