Where can you get tested and treated for COVID all in one spot? Here are some Palm Beach County sites

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 at certain pharmacies in Palm Beach County can get medication right then and there, even as a lapse in federal funding forced some test sites to close.

The "test to treat" initiative, announced last month by President Joe Biden, supplies pharmacies and clinics across the county and the country with antiviral pills and other treatments. Anyone seeking a one-stop shop for testing and treatments can enter their ZIP code or city on the web page https://covid-19-test-to-treat-locator-dhhs.hub.arcgis.com.

Here is a sample of test-to-treat locations in Palm Beach County.

  • West Palm Beach area

    • C.L. Brumback Primary Care Clinic: 1150 45th Street.

    • CVS: 10155 Okeechobee Blvd.

  • The Glades

    • CVS: 101 S. Main St., Belle Glade.

    • Walgreens: 101 N. Main St., Belle Glade.

  • North county CVS pharmacies

    • 260 S. U.S. 1, Tequesta.

    • 11000 N. Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens.

    • 2480 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens.

  • South county CVS pharmacies

Those who test positive at these places, or bring in an at-home positive result, can receive a prescription for anti-COVID drugs, the federal government has said.

Veterans can also receive treatments with positive test results at medical centers run by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has been giving antiviral pills to pharmacies since March.

Some privately run testing sites have shut down in recent weeks in anticipation of federal aid they relied on drying up. Six sites run by Miami-based CDR Maguire closed in March for that reason.

The White House has asked Congress to approve $22.5 billion for testing, vaccination, treatment and other measures to prepare for another wave of COVID infections. Lawmakers said Monday that they had reached a deal to provide $10 billion.

The BA.2 subvariant of the coronavirus' omicron mutation has fueled the most recent increase of COVID cases across Palm Beach County and Florida.

But a corresponding spike in hospitalizations and deaths has yet to materialize. Medical experts have said the BA.2 wave should be less severe in America because most people have either been vaccinated against the virus or been infected by omicron.
