Where UF transfer athlete Fenley Graham fits in with FAMU roster

Another marquee name has been added to the Florida A&M football roster days ahead of Friday's first practice.

On Tuesday, former University of Florida wide receiver, cornerback and return specialist Fenley Graham Jr. announced his commitment to commit to FAMU via Twitter.

Graham, a 3-star player from Lakeland High School, joins the Rattlers' roster of 12 wide receivers and 25 defensive backs for the 2022 season.

The 5-foot-9, 171-pounder will enteras a redshirt sophomore.

FAMU football has proactively utilized the NCAA Transfer Portal by landing four Power Five athletes in the month of July: Toryque Bateman (offensive line/Louisville), Christopher Williams (offensive line/Florida State), A.J. Davis (running back/Pitt), and now Graham from UF.

Where he comes from

A star out of Lakeland High, Graham helped the Dreadnaughts defeat St. Thomas Aquinas 33-20 for the 2018 FHSAA 7A state title.

In 2020, Graham signed with Florida.

He appeared in six games for the Gators and recorded a tackle as a true freshman before being redshirted. In 2021, Graham played in all 11 games and had five tackles and a forced fumble.

He entered the transfer portal on June 27 and selected FAMU nearly a month later.

Where he fits on the depth chart

It is unclear where Graham will play for the Rattlers.

He began to get reps at slot receiver this past spring at Florida.

At wide receiver, Graham will compete with players such as Darian Oxendine, Ce'zaun Enge, and Christopher Sanders II for the third spot.

The Rattlers are loaded with defensive backs.

Preseason All-SWAC second teamer BJ Bohler is the clear leader of the cornerbacks and will likely guard the opposing team's best receiver. The other corner spot and nickelback spots could be open for competition with players like Kendall Bohler and Kortney Cox emerging.

With Graham having a returning background, he could have an opportunity to field punts and kicks along with star receivers Xavier Smith and Jah'Marae Sheread.

Regardless, Graham is still a fairly young player with three more years of eligibility.

He should have an abundance of opportunities to earn playing time at FAMU.
