Where to watch the Fourth of July fireworks show in NYC

The Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza is returning to light up the city’s skies like never before.

Launching more than 65,000 shells and effects from five barges in the East River in Midtown, the show is paying homage to America’s everyday heroes with a patriotic musical score.

Along with public viewing locations set up by the NYPD throughout the city, the 25-minute celebration, set to start at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, can be enjoyed from the following spots

Brooklyn:

Domino Park

300 Kent Ave.

Spanning a quarter mile along the East River in Williamsburg, Domino Park allows for unobstructed views of this year’s fireworks. With a playground and a Tacocina food stand, this family-friendly location is a perfect spot to enjoy Independence Day and catch the light show.

Marsha P. Johnson State Park

90 Kent Ave.

The waterfront park stretching along the East River has some of the best views in Brooklyn of the Williamsburg Bridge and Midtown Manhattan. Not only will you have clear views of the pyrotechnics launched from the barges on the East River, but you can see fireworks set to go off from the Empire State Building’s 72nd, 86th and 103rd floors.

Fornino Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park

With a rooftop overlooking the East River, Fornino makes for a laid-back Fourth. New Yorkers are asked to make reservations for seating to enjoy the Independence Day fireworks while sipping cocktails and dining on wood-fired pizza. The rooftop provides partial views of New York and New Jersey displays.

Estuary

159 Bridge Park Drive

Sitting on the Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront, Estuary at ONE°15 has panoramic views of Manhattan. Although patio seating is sold out for the July 4 celebration, which includes an open bar and a special a la carte menu, you can still reserve seats for Estuary’s indoor dining, also serving the special menu. According to Ramy Chaer, general manager at Estuary, indoor guests can enjoy the fireworks display by stepping out onto the building walkway when the show starts.

Top of the Box NYC

77 Box St.

With jamming music from noon to midnight, Top of the Box NYC is hosting an all-day “Fire in the Sky” July 4 rooftop party. The event features six renowned DJs playing nonstop music, small bites from local restaurants and all-day drink specials. “Quarantine is over... Top of the Box is hosting a massive event for July 4 this year,” said Joe Torres, the venue’s director of events.

Manhattan

John V. Lindsay East River Park

FDR Drive

Along the East River from Montgomery to 12th Sts. on the Lower East Side, John V. Lindsay East River Park features beautiful views of New York Harbor and the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. The park has open barbecue areas and greenways to enjoy before grabbing a spot directly on the waterfront path to watch the show.

The Rooftop at Pier 17

89 South St.

“We invite all New Yorkers and local travelers to celebrate the holiday with us at the Greens on the Rooftop at Pier 17. Guests can look forward to their own personal minilawn ... and special food and beverage packages for the occasion,” said Andrew Schwartz, a senior vice president at owner Howard Hughes Corp. The “minilawns” are 10 feet by 10 feet of turf with a love seat, four lounge chairs, a sun umbrella and a small dining table.

The Water Club

500 E 30th St.

Taking advantage of its prime location with clear views of the Manhattan skyline, the Water Club will be hosting a reservations-only July 4 event. The reservation includes a buffet, an open bar and clear views of the fireworks show. “We are incredibly conveniently located on the East River. We are right in line with the center barge and have two rooftop terraces to view the spectacular,” said Sonya Higgins, junior sales manager.

Lucille Cruise

2430 FDR Drive

Get on the water this year to enjoy a unique view of the fireworks. The Lucille is hosting a family-friendly party cruise for Independence Day, with a buffet-style dinner, open bar, a live DJ and the chance to enjoy the show while on the waters of the East River. Tickets are still available.

Edge — Observation Deck

30 Hudson Yards

For a refined July 4 experience, Edge is hosting an exclusive celebration featuring a string quartet with members of the MET Orchestra. A ticket to the sky deck allows entry starting at 7 p.m. and includes three glasses of champagne or sparkling tea, unlimited popcorn and a personalized photo book.

Queens:

Gantry Plaza State Park

4-09 47th Road, Long Island City

This state park along the East River in the Hunters Point area has some of the best views of the Midtown skyline to be found in Queens. With picnic tables, playgrounds and a beautiful waterfront promenade, the park is a great spot for families to catch the Macy’s show as well as the fireworks launching from the Empire State Building.

Hunter’s Point South Park

Center Blvd., Long Island City

With a backdrop of the Midtown skyline from the East River waterfront in Long Island City, Hunter’s Point South Park will have excellent views of the fireworks. In the park is a high-quality cafe to grab a bite to go before finding a spot on its 30-foot-high cantilevered platform to watch the show.

American Brass

2-01 50th Ave.

The waterfront restaurant has plenty of outdoor seating with unobstructed views of the city skyline. For Independence Day, American Brass is offering reservations for a special three-course dinner while enjoying the fireworks. “This is the best place to be as you will have the finest food and best views of the fireworks,” said American Brass owner Robert Briskin.

Vista Skylounge

27-05 39th Ave., top floor, Long Island City

Located on the roof of the Four Points by Sheraton in Long Island City, Vista Skylounge is throwing a Fourth of July family-friendly party. A ticket includes access to an open buffet and a glass of wine or beer. With views of the Manhattan skyline and the Queensboro Bridge, Vista Skylounge’s bash promises good food and drinks along with a stunning view of the Macy’s fireworks show.

At home:

Those spending the evening in the comfort of their homes can watch the “Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular” on NBC starting at 8 p.m. The show kicks off with performances by Blake Shelton, Coldplay and the Jonas Brothers and will wrap up with the 25-minute pyrotechnics spectacle.
