IndyCar - Nashville Street Circuit

IndyCar's Nashville street circuit is one of the most ambitious in the past decade, a well-marketed attempt to bring top level auto racing to the heart of a growing entertainment hub that has already proven it can host a strong crowd in its first year. It's also one of the strangest tracks in the world, thanks to two stretches over a bridge and an ultra-tight section on the far side of that bridge. It's like a high-stakes Formula E track, with all the confusing tight angles punctuated by serious top speed over a river.
In year 2, the Nashville GP represents the last street circuit event of the season. After this, IndyCar's schedule winds down with just one more race on an oval and two at natural terrain road courses. That makes it the last shot for those among the six remaining championship contenders who excel on these tracks to press their advantages. That list includes championship leader Will Power, whose blinding one-lap speed is a huge asset on tracks where passing is more difficult.
IMSA - Road America

Road America is a crown jewel of the IMSA schedule. It also marks the last-ever sprint race for the current generation of DPi prototypes. These cars will run again in the 10 hour Petit Le Mans, then the GTP era led by the much-anticipated LMDh rule set will finally begin.
With time running out on the DPi era, Acura's teams seem to be in complete control. Wayne Taylor Racing's duo trails the Rolex 24 at Daytona-winning pair from Meyer Shank by 56 points, with the first Cadillac team some 92 points further back.
NASCAR - Michigan International Speedway
Sunday, August 7th - 3:00 p.m. ET - USA
As the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan, the playoff picture has gotten fairly straightforward. Another winner in the closing races could shake things up, but at the moment both Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. are 90 or more points clear of Kevin Harvick as the year's two would-be qualifiers on points. Blaney leads Truex by 20, leaving the Joe Gibbs Racing driver as the one at risk of elimination.
This weekend's race at Michigan should be the most calm of the four remaining regular season races. Next come a short track, a road course, and a pack racing track. If Blaney or Truex want to win and get out of this conversation entirely, there is no time like the present.
