Here’s where Wichita State is reportedly headed for its November basketball tournament

The Wichita State men’s basketball team is reportedly headed to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina this November for its annual early-season tournament.

The Shockers are included in the eight-team field for the 2023 Myrtle Beach Invitational, multiple sources told college basketball analyst Rocco Miller of Bracketeer.org on Thursday.

According to Miller, WSU will be joined by Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Furman, Liberty, Saint Louis, Vermont and Wyoming. Although the reported field lacks a major-conference team, Charleston (Colonial Athletic Association), Furman (Southern), Liberty (ASUN) and Vermont (America East) all won their regular-season conference championships this past season and six of the eight teams finished in the top-115 of the final KenPom rankings.

Last year’s Myrtle Beach Invitational didn’t officially announce its field, pairings and dates until late July. The tournament has begun on the Thursday before Thanksgiving the last two years. Once the bracket is officially announced, ticket information will become available.

WSU’s 2023-24 schedule under first-year Paul Mills only has a handful of publicly-announced matchups: Richmond (Nov. 14) and Western Kentucky (TBD) are slated to come to Koch Arena, while the Shockers will play at Missouri on Dec. 3 and against Kansas State on Dec. 22 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.
