Friday fish dinners are back for the 2023 Lenten season in Somerset County.

The Daily American has compiled a list of organizations across the county who plan to host fish dinners this season. Berlin fish fry

The Berlin Veterans Home, 419 Meadow Street, is hosting a fish fry this Friday, Feb. 24 from 4-6 p.m. and every other Friday through Lent (March 10, March 24 and April 7). Meals are available to eat in or take out. Guests can choose from baked or fried fish, French fries or a baked potato with hush puppies, cole slaw and a roll. A bake sale by the ladies' auxiliary will offer dessert choices. For more information, call 814-267-4333

New Baltimore fish fry

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 167 Finley Street, is hosting a fish fry each Friday during Lent through March 31. (No dinner on Good Friday.) Meals are served from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and are available to eat in or take out. The menu includes fried and baked fish, fried shrimp, baked potato, stewed tomatoes, green beans, haluski, cole slaw, soup, a beverage and pudding or cake for dessert. Meyersdale fish fry

Fish dinners will be available from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Friday at the Meyersdale Elks Lodge, 327 Dale St. The menu features fried or baked (unbreaded) haddock, French fries or baked potato, coleslaw and a roll. Coffee and other beverages also available. For take-out orders, call 814-634-8411 between 7-9 p.m. on Thursday or from 2-4 p.m. Fridays.

Salisbury fish fry

Salisbury VFW Post No. 8826 will sell fish dinners from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Fridays at the post hall, 118 Grant St. Meals are available to eat in or take out, and the dinners include haddock, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, coleslaw, a dinner roll and dessert. For more information, call 814-662-4109.

Conemaugh Township fish fry

The Conemaugh Township Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a fish dinner from 4-7 p.m. on Fridays through April 7 at the John Bracken Hall, 1942 Kring St. in Tire Hill. Choices include a baked haddock, fried haddock or shrimp dinner, served with two sides and a dessert. Side choices are French fries, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, haluski and applesauce. Meals are available to eat in or take out. Customers who want meals for take out are asked to drive around to the rear of the building to order. Orders are accepted until the food is sold out.

Windber fish fry

Meals are available for take-out only, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays through March 31 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 605 Graham Ave. (No dinners sold on Good Friday.) Orders must be placed by phone, in-person orders are not accepted. The menu includes baked or fried fish dinners, a six-piece shrimp dinner, fish sandwich dinner or a combination fish/shrimp dinner, as well as fish sandwiches, breaded or steamed shrimp, French fries, parsley potatoes, haluszki, coleslaw, pizza, pagacz and desserts. Meals for adults and children can be ordered after 9 a.m. on Friday by calling 814-467-7191, ext. 4. If phone lines are busy, please be patient and call again. After placing their order, the caller will receive an order number and a scheduled time for pickup. Deliveries are not available.

Boswell fish fry

The Boswell Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a fish fry on March 10, starting at 4 p.m. at the Boswell Firemen's Grove, 201 Hower Ave. Meals will be offered to eat on site or for take-out. The menu is to include baked or fried fish and a side of either macaroni and cheese, haluski or pierogies. Coleslaw or applesauce is also being offered, as well as a dinner roll and dessert.
