When you’re the first Georgia starting quarterback to win a national championship in 41 years, nothing is trivial.

So, everything uttered by Stetson Bennett, speaking to reporters for the first time since preseason practices began, is examined like it would be for rapper Jack Harlow or actor Liam Hemsworth.

Like Bennett’s pregame routine. He will start Georgia’s season opener-barring something unexpected in practice this week—against Oregon Saturday in Atlanta.

He likes to throw. OK.

Find out where the game clocks are. Makes sense.

See if there’s anything unusual about the field like tall grass in the middle of the field. Smart.

He brushes his teeth and showers. “Not in the same spot,” he said.

He plays some old country tunes for about 15 minutes and finds a quiet place. Nothing wrong with a little Johnny Cash or Waylon Jennings.

He puts on a suit. If you look good, you may just play good.

What about go-to-songs?

“Um,” Bennett said with a chuckle Monday. “Yeah, I’ve got one. I don’t know if I should say it. It’s Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. I love that song. That’s my song.”

Caillat has had 10 Hot 100 songs on the Billboard charts, the last in 2014. So if you turn on the radio driving around like Bennett no doubt has, you’ve heard “Bubbly,” “Fallin’ For You,” “Realize,” “Brighter Than The Sun,” and “Lucky,” with Jason Mraz.

Remember Bennett, a sixth-year college player, turns 25 in October.

When “Bubbly,” peaked at No. 5 on Oct. 27, 2007, Bennett was a day away from turning 10.

Bennett stood at a podium after coach Kirby Smart did his weekly press conference. He didn’t elaborate on what the pull is for the Caillat song. Here are the lyrics to start the song, according to azlyrics.com, if you want to try to figure it out.

“Will you count me in?

I've been awake for a while now

You've got me feelin' like a child now

'Cause every time I see your bubbly face

I get the tingles in a silly place

It starts in my toes

And I crinkle my nose

Wherever it goes

I always know

That you make me smile

Please stay for a while now

Just take your time

Wherever you go”

Bennett also enjoys Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G.

“Those are my two,” he said.

Good news for Bennett. Caillat has some fall concert dates in October including on Georgia’s bye weekend when she’ll be playing in Bethlehem, Pa. and Atlantic City, N.J.
