While parking, car drives on top of another car at New Jersey shopping center

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. — The idea of squeezing into tight parking spots at shopping centers was taken to new heights this week.

A Mercedes ended up on top of an unoccupied Toyota parked at The Outlets at Bergen Town Center in Paramus, New Jersey, after the driver mistakenly hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, said Diane Morrell, administrative assistant to Maywood Police Chief Joseph Natale.

Max Zavain, who was in the parking lot at the time of the Tuesday crash, managed to catch video of the aftermath. Zavian said he didn't see the crash but heard the noise. When he turned around, the Mercedes was on top of the other car.

Morrell said the driver of the Mercedes was attempting to park and drove over a mulched median.

No one was seriously injured or charged.
