While top teams flip-flop, Ohio State football remains No. 3 in AP, coaches polls

Georgia dropped from the top spot in the latest Associated Press and coaches polls released Sunday.

But it was not enough of a fall for Ohio State to move up from No. 3.

The Bulldogs, who survived an upset scare from unranked Missouri on Saturday, slipped one spot in the polls, overtaken by Alabama, limiting the shuffle among the top-three teams.

A narrow margin separated the Southeastern Conference schools. Alabama led the Bulldogs by only two vote points in the AP poll and 23 points in the coaches poll.

This is the fifth straight week the Buckeyes, coming off a 49-10 rout of Rutgers, were ranked third in the polls. They were ranked second in the preseason, but went down a spot after their 21-10 season-opening win over Notre Dame.

Voters did give Ohio State more consideration for the top spot. It received 10 first-place votes in the AP poll and seven in the coaches, up from the four they garnered in each of the polls last week.

Michigan stayed behind the Buckeyes at No. 4, while Penn State moved up to No. 10.

No other Big Ten teams were ranked in either poll.
