Whiskey and cigar lounge in Gastonia sold to local hospitality group

The owners of an upscale whiskey and cigar lounge in South End have purchased a Gastonia business with expansion in mind.

Menagerie Hospitality Group, which owns The Vintage, recently bought Whiskgars Cigar & Co. at 190 W. Main Ave., according to a news release. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The initial plan calls for Menagerie to operate Whiskgars as is for the time being, with a mid-term goal of rebranding the space The Vintage Gastonia. Whiskgars staff will also remain on board.

Whiskgars was founded in 2021 by the Hibberts family. It is located in a 90-year-old building in downtown Gastonia and has a dual-lounge layout.
