Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Democratic National Committee has named White House adviser Minyon Moore to serve as head the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

During the 1980s, Moore, who is a native of Chicago's South Side, worked for Jesse Jackson's Operation PUSH and went on to become White House Director of Political Affairs during the Clinton administration.

As an adviser to the Biden White House, Moore played a key role in helping to confirm Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

Moore also has played various roles within the Democratic National Committee and is a close confidante of former first lady, secretary of State and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"At the very beginning of the 2024 convention selection process, I said that we were looking for a turnkey operation, and I am confident this leadership team will deliver," said DNC Chair Jamie Harrison.

"I am grateful to the team members who have already been working hard and know that through their work and the strong team we continue to build, that this convention will be a success," Moore said in a statement.

The DNC has also named a number of other officials to positions for the 2024 convention.

Alex Hornbrook, who served on Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and was charged with the 2024 convention selection process, will serve as executive director for the convention.

DNC Deputy Executive Director Roger Lau will assist the convention and serve as an adviser to Biden's Victory Fund.

President Biden's former director of legislative affairs, Louisa Terrell, will take on the role of senior adviser to the convention and to the Biden campaign.

The convention takes place August 19-22.
