White House Campground, Trailhead will soon be easier to access
KANAB, Utah (ABC4) — White House Campground and Trailhead near Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument will soon be easier to access.
This is thanks to the Bureau of Land Management, who is preparing to improve that access through a $500,000 construction project funded by The Great American Outdoors Act.

The BLM will reportedly re-align the road and replace a lower water crossing with a box culvert, a structure used to channel water as part of a drainage system. The BLM said they are going to rebuild the road in more stable conditions away from the Paria River’s edge, helping to eliminate future safety concerns and reroutes.
Paria River District Manager Harry Barber said in the past, visitors have been trapped at the site due to flood conditions for multiple days before the road could be re-opened.
According to Barber, the road realignment will provide safe, year-round passage to the campground and trailhead.
During construction, crews will keep a temporary road segment open to allow continued vehicular access to White House Campground and White House Trailhead, but that access will be limited. This will start on Tuesday, Feb. 6 and go through Friday, March 29, the BLM said.
The BLM is asking passing motorists to use caution, as they expect delays while heavy equipment operates near the road. Additionally, the BLM said dust-sensitive visitors should use caution while in the area.
