“Those attending will enjoy learning more about Stewart’s years of service at the White House Historical Association and knowledge of the history of the White House," said Ashley Chambers, director of OLLI.

Though one of the most recognized landmarks in the nation, White House doors remained closed to the public for many years, until former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy offered public tours. She founded the White House Historical Association in 1961 to help collect and preserve artifacts, and to enhance understanding and appreciation of the executive mansion.

During his nine years as president of the non-profit educational group, McLaurin has expanded its cultural and educational programming through award-winning books, popular video series, and virtual and in-person events. Embracing cutting-edge, creative ways to convey content to expanding audiences, he has worked to ensure White House history will be preserved for future generations. McLaurin's most recent book is "James Hoban: Designer and Builder of the White House."
