White House Press Secretary Defends G7 Coming to Trump Property: The Trump Brand Is ‘Known’

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham appeared on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” Friday and defended President Trump’s move to bring the G7 summit to the Trump National Doral resort in Miami next year.

When pushed by co-host Steve Doocy, she disagreed that hosting the event at a Trump property had “promotional value” for the president’s brand because that brand is already “known everywhere.”

“The way the media — the mainstream media — is covering it, I don’t know that the Trump Organization would agree with that,” Grisham noted of the possibility of the summit being advertisement for Doral.

The announcement that the summit will take place at a property in the president’s brand made headlines Thursday and was still a cause for on-air disagreements Friday morning. On the same program Grisham appeared on, “Fox & Friends,” Fox News correspondent-at-large Geraldo Rivera said the decision to host the summit there “flies in the face of the Constitution.”

“We had members of our military office, Secret Service, advance teams — we had several people, the State Department, go out to ten different states and look at 12 different sites,” Grisham said during her segment. “Doral was one of those sites. All of them came back and made the recommendations to the president that Doral is the perfect place to hold such a summit.”
