When it was announced in June that Stephanie Grisham would take over as White House press secretary, the big question was whether she’d restart the daily White House press briefings. On Monday morning’s “Fox & Friends,” she delivered the answer: “Not right now.”

“Ultimately, if the president decides that it’s something we should do, we can do that,” Grisham told co-host Ainsley Earhardt of President Trump. “Right now, he’s doing just fine and to be honest, the briefings had become a lot of theater and I think a lot of reporters were doing it to …”

“Get famous,” interjected co-host Steve Doocy.

“I mean, yeah,” Grisham agreed. “They’re writing books now. They’re all getting famous off of this presidency so I think it’s great what we’re doing now.”

Journalists have been vocal about this administration’s decision to flout tradition and do away with daily press briefings. When they were still happening with regularity, Trump said then-press secretary Sean Spicer was getting “beat up.”

On Monday, Grisham repeated her assertion that Trump is”his own best spokesperson” and “the most accessible president in history, as all of the media knows.”

Grisham replaced Sarah Huckabee Sanders as press secretary and communications director this summer. Prior to the position, Grisham served as deputy chief of staff and communications director to the first lady. Huckabee Sanders, who replaced Spicer, headed to Fox News.

Spicer is currently competing on “Dancing With the Stars.”
