White House Twitter thread trolling Republicans features a New Jersey flair

If you noticed that the official Twitter account of the White House was a little sassier than usual Thursday, it might be because someone from New Jersey holds the keys to the account.
After President Joe Biden announced student loan forgiveness Wednesday, Twitter exploded with reactions from all sides including many criticisms.
But @WhiteHouse's was quick to troll many of the announcement's detractors, quote-tweeting Republican members of Congress with the amounts of their own forgiven PPP loans. And one of New Jersey's own was operating the keyboard behind the account, a former aide in Gov. Phil Murphy's administration, unleashing a Tweet thread that garnered hundreds of thousands of likes and retweets.

Megan Coyne is the White House's Deputy Director of Platforms, a post she started in earlier this month, but she made her bones in the Garden State. Before taking the job in Washington, Coyne was the social media director for the Murphy administration. And perhaps her most noteworthy contribution was running the official New Jersey Twitter account, which she ran with another Murphy aide.
Under Coyne and her former partner Pearl Gabel, @NJGov grew its Twitter following exponentially, posting jokes about Taylor ham and dunking on the official accounts of neighbors Delaware and Pennsylvania. And though Coyne has now gone federal, New Jersey's account has nearly 450,000 followers.

The thread got some acknowledgement from Tammy Murphy's Chief of Staff Stephanie Lagos:

@WhiteHouse boasts 7.5 million Twitter followers, and its Thursday thread taking aim at the likes of U.S. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz got a lot of attention, trending on Twitter and garnering thousands of responses.

The Twitter thread might have surprised people around the country, but the combative nature should come as no shock to folks living in New Jersey, a state where people can't even agree on what to call processed meat. Luckily for the rest of the country, this thread stuck to the far less divisive topic of politics.
