White Oak PD says residents can help solve crimes with new program

WHITE OAK, Texas (KETK) – The White Oak Police Department said they’ve developed a new security initiative where residents can register their personal home security cameras to be used in investigations.

Ring no longer allowing police to request users’ doorbell video footage

The Surveillance Video/Doorbell Camera registration program will allow officers to know ahead of time where cameras are located where a crime occurred to cut investigation time and bring more criminals to justice, White Oak PD said.

“It’ll speed up the process of basically getting evidence, getting a view of a suspect vehicle or a suspect themselves, instead of going door to door, and of course, people aren’t at home during the day, whenever things pop up from overnight, people are to gone to work, so we can call them wherever they’re at,” Lieutenant Nicholas Bruton with White Oak PD said.

Residents that want to take part in the program, can register their security cameras through a Google Form.

White Oak said they have received positive community feedback
