White Pigeon, Bronson wrestling teams win invitationals

The White Pigeon wrestling team claimed first place at the Delton-Kellogg Invitational on Saturday.

The Chiefs wrestled to wins over Delton-Kellogg 66-18, Parchment 66-18, Ionia 41-33 and Paw Paw 60-20.There were five Chiefs who finished with unbeaten records on the day.

Mazzy Lambert at 106, Hunter Pant at 113, Caleb Lane at 165, Seth Miller at 215 and Chaz Underwood (285) each wrestled to 4-0 marks.

Drew Johnson at 120, Jesse Fielis at 138, Cole Jackson at 144, Evan Rudloff at 150 and Luke Hinkson at 157 each finished with 3-1 records for the day.

Bronson at JAWS

The Bronson wrestling team had a successful Saturday at the JAWS tournament. Bronson won all five matches on the day and took home first place as a team.

The Vikes picked up wins over East Jackson 58-15, Manchester 47-21, Homer 57-18, Jackson Northwest 45-27 and Parma Western 64-18.

Finishing with 5-0 records on the day were Layne Knisely, Carson Norton, Jacob Britten, Jacob Dixon and Jayden Post. Wrestling to 4-1 records were Perry Lake, Logan Long, Gabe Erwin and Mathew Blankenship.

The “B” team for Bronson went 3-2. The beat Grass Lake 48-24, Jackson Northwest’s “B” team 42-30 and Jackson Lumen Christi 48-12. Their losses came to Michigan Center 48-29 and Jackson 54-21.

Mackenna Webster, Brycen Fincham, Mason Lindsey, Collin York and Everardo Lozada all wrestled to perfect 5-0 records. Finishing with a 4-1 record was Connor Harvey.

Sturgis wrestles to 2-1

The Sturgis wrestling team competed in Hillsdale on Saturday and won two of its three matches.

The Trojans beat Hillsdale 36-30 and Onsted 66-6, but fell to Erie Mason 40-33.

Jacob Armey, Kaiden Waldron and Ishmael Cruz all went 3-0 on the day. Finishing with a 2-0 mark was Wyatt Reed.

Wrestling to 2-1 records on the day were Angel Alvarez, Lola Barkby, Gage PeDue, Juan Pablo Soto and Tristan Ainsworth.
