White Pigeon wins SW10 league title

The White Pigeon wrestling team won a pair of league matches on Wednesday.

Because of the wins, coming over Comstock 84-0 and Hartford 51-28, the Chiefs wrapped up the SouthWest10 league championship on Parent’s Night.

In the win over Comstock, White Pigeon won every match by void or pinfall.

Mazzy Lambert at 106, Hunter Pant at 113, Nathan Carmona at 126 and Luke Hinkson at 157 each won by void.

Drew Johnson pinned Kamarea Johnson (2:58) at 120, Gavin McGrady pinned Maxwell Keith (3:20) at 132, Jesse Fielis pinned Gabriel Liedeke (39 seconds) at 138, Cole Jackson pinned Dale Weed (1:10) at 144, Evan Rudloff pinned Wesley Boland (3:12) at 150, Caleb Lane pinned Michaela Hartselle (28 seconds) at 165, Norberto Monrot pinned Titus Moore (1:38) at 175, Nate Irwin pinned Jay Claxton (1:16) at 190, Landon Peterson pinned Jessica Hummel (1:09) at 215 and Chaz Underwood pinned Anton White (2:45) at 285.

The match with Hartford was a bit closer. White Pigeon was awarded a void win at 106 with Lambert.

Underwood won his match by pin over Hunter Tipton in 22 seconds at 285.

McGrady pinned Armando Garcia at 3:19 at 132 pounds, Fielis then won his match by decision, 7-4, at 138.White Pigeon then won five consecutive matches by pinfall.

Rudloff at 150 (1:19), Hinkson at 157 (5:52), Dase Kochell at 165 (3:15), Lane at 175 (1:59) and Irwin at 190 (25 seconds) all win by pins.

Centreville also competed at White Pigeon on Wednesday. The Bulldogs finished with a record of 1-1, beating Comstock 58-11 but falling to Hartford 45-36.

Centreville won a couple of void matches over Hartford. Those went to Rockne Hamilton at 113 and Braxton Harker at 126. DeAndre Stout won his bout at 132 by a major decision, 14-2.

Winning by pinfall was Noah Brooks at 138 (1:30) and Lukas Brooks at 144 (5:19).

Owen Taylor then won by pin over Wesley Boland at 1:14 at 157 pounds. Ariana Evans would pick up a pin win at 165, Gavin Bunning then did the same at 175.

Aiden Kohlhoff won by pin over Hummel (1:00) at 215 followed by Payton Balle winning by pin over White at 1:09.Against Hartford, Balle won by pin in 20 seconds over Tipton.

Hamilton won by void at 106.

Lukas Brooks pinned Rocco Lenza at 1:02 in their bout at 150. Centreville also got a win from Taylor at 59 seconds over Mikayla Hartline at 165. Bunning won by pin (2:54) over Lincoln Birkhead at 175 and Jamal Noble picked up a win in 26 seconds by pin at 190.

Bronson wins twice

The Bronson wrestling team clobbered both Concord, 78-3, and Homer, 71-6, on Saturday. The wins propel the Vikings to 31-1 on the season.

Against Concord, the Vikings won several matches by void.

Winning those were Aiden Fill at 113, Perry Lake at 126, Logan Long at 132, Gabriel Erwin at 144, Dakota Miller at 150, Mason Lindsay at 157, Carson Norton at 165, Jacob Britten at 175, Jacob Dixon at 190 and Matthew Blankenship at 215.

Owen Kimmons (120) won his match over Jordyan Metcalk by pinfall at 1:03. Layne Knisley also won his match by pin, at 1:19, in the bout at 138 over Collin Thompson. Jayden Post’s pin at 285 came over Ben Reiniche at 2:57.

Against Homer, there were far fewer wins by void. Post was the only one with his hand raised because of no opponent for Bronson.

Several Vikings won by pinfall.

Knisely at 138, Drew Seekman at 150, Lindsey at 157, Britten at 175, Dixon at 190, Blankenship at 215, Kimmons at 120, Lake at 126 and Long at 132 all won by pin.

Erwin’s match at 144 saw him win 6-4. Norton won by major decision (10-2) at 165, Fill won by major decision (12-4) as well at 113.

Sturgis swept

The Sturgis wrestling team dropped a pair of matches on Wednesday evening. Those came to Plainwell, 83-0, and Otsego, 53-18.

Against Otsego, Kaiden Waldron won his match at 132 by pinfall over Brenden Bohl at 3:30. Aaron Castro won his match at 165 pounds over Alex Raseman by pin as well at 3:59.

Winning at 215 was Ismael Cruz, he pinned Jose Serrano at 1:05 of their bout.

Three Rivers wins twice

The Three Rivers wrestling team won a pair of matches on Wednesday evening.

Those wins came over Buchanan 66-15 and Portage Northern 67-12.

There were several Wildcats winning a couple of bouts on the evening. Finishing 2-0 were Clinton Kaiser, Jak Monroe, Talan Flowers, Carter Hensley, Ayden Keller, Louis Smith, Landon Moreland, Jeremiah Detwiler, Lloyd Ruesink and Jacob Reynolds.
