White Sox stand pat at trade deadline: ‘We didn’t want to do anything that was going to compromise what this bright future looks like’

Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn had many conversations with other teams leading up to the trade deadline.

Some discussions were more aggressive than others, but the Sox held off on making any moves Monday.

“At the end, it came down to not wanting to do anything that was going to compromise what we are excited about for the better part of the next decade around here,” Hahn said during a conference call. “We feel very good about what this team has accomplished over the first part of this season. We feel confident in what this team is capable of doing over the next several months. But just as importantly, we are excited about where this team is headed for the next several years.

“In the end, we didn’t want to do anything that was going to compromise what this bright future looks like to all of us around the club.”
