The Whitefish Bay School Board has selected Jamie Foeckler to be Whitefish Bay's next superintendent, according to a Dec. 14 release from the district.

Foeckler will start in July 2024.

The district’s current superintendent, John Thomsen, announced his retirement in mid-October. Thomsen has served as superintendent of Whitefish Bay Schools since 2015.

Foeckler brings to the position several years of classroom teaching experience, several Department of Public Instruction licenses and experience as an associate principal and principal, according to the release. He joined the Whitefish Bay school system in 2021 and currently serves as the district's director of teaching and learning services.

“Dr. Foeckler exemplifies the characteristics identified by the community, including extensive experience in classroom settings, strong leadership and communication skills, and a substantial interest in and commitment to educational equity and inclusion,” School Board President Anne Berleman Kearney said in the release.

In 2001, Foeckler received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and English from the University of Wisconsin - Parkside. He obtained a Master of Science degree in administrative leadership and supervision in education from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 2004, and, in 2019, earned a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in leadership, advancement and learning & service from Cardinal Stritch University.

School board member Lynn Raines said Foeckler’s "unwavering commitment to educational excellence, his profound understanding of the complexities of modern education, and his ability to leverage his exceptional interpersonal skills position him as an exemplary leader.”

Raines praised Foeckler’s ability to harness the district leadership team's and staff's collective expertise and his prioritization of ensuring students have the essential foundation to be “life, college, and career ready.”

With Foeckler at the helm, Raines said Whitefish Bay is "poised to thrive as a top-performing district, fostering a culture of excellence for years to come.”
