Whitefish Mountain Resort kicks off summer season

May 26—Whitefish Mountain Resort will kick off its 2023 summer season with zip line tours, alpine slides, scenic chairlift rides and other activities on Memorial Day weekend.

The lower portion of the mountain, served by chairlifts 2 and 10, will be open for biking, with upper-mountain routes opening as the snow melts and the trails dry out, according to resort officials.

Chair 1, which runs to the summit, will be turning for scenic lift rides.

Zip Line Tours, Spider Monkey Mountain, the Aerial Adventure Park and the Alpine Slides will also be operating.

The Summit House will serve lunch, and the bar and cafe in the base lodge will be open as well.

After Memorial Day, the resort will close and reopen for the following weekend, June 3-4. Daily operations begin June 10 and run through Sept. 17.

The seasonal reopening of the resort also marks the return of regular S.N.O.W. Bus service between the mountain and downtown Whitefish.

"We're excited to kick off the summer season with lots of fun activities on the mountain," Whitefish Mountain Resort President Nick Polumbus said. "We've seen plenty of sunshine this spring and the snow is melting fast, but everyone should be mindful of early-season trail conditions as well as wildlife and fellow guests."

Polumbus also announced that the resort would be expanding its bike park season into September.

"Warm spring conditions should allow us to open trails faster than usual, plus we'll offer more biking opportunities this fall, with lift access added midweek after Labor Day until we close for the season," he said.
