Whitestown work accident kills man

Dec. 11—A man died when a concrete block fell on him at work in Whitestown at about noon Monday, authorities confirmed.

Anthony Osby, 44, Indianapolis, was working at Ray's Trash Service, 6251 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, when he suffered a traumatic injury, police said.

The block weighed several thousand pounds, and Osby was unresponsive when rescuers reached him, Whitestown Police Cpt. John Jurkash said in an email.

Whitestown police and Boone County Coroner Justin Sparks are conducting separate but parallel investigations, Sparks said Monday. A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
