Whiting man dead after car crash in Berkeley Township

A car crash involving two vehicles in Berkeley Township left one person dead Monday afternoon, police announced Wednesday.

At around 2:41 p.m., officers responded to the area of 854 Pinewald Keswick Road after receiving a report of a crash in the middle of the roadway, according to a Facebook post from the Berkeley Police Department.

Berkeley officers and Manchester EMS arrived on the scene and began medical treatment on both drivers.

Police said a 2019 Honda HR-V, driven by a 61-year-old woman from Whiting, left the eastbound lane, striking a 2010 Honda Fit head on.

The Honda Fit driver, an 81-year-old Whiting man, died of his injuries, according to police. The driver of the Honda HR-V was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center for her injuries.

The collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call Berkeley Township Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-341-1132 ext. 2125.
