Whitley’s Peanut Factory, based in Virginia, issues recall

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall on Whitley’s Peanut Factory’s 12oz Deluxe Nut Mix due to possible undeclared allergens.

Whitley’s Peanut Factory is known for its gourmet “Home-Cooked” Virginia peanuts. There are several locations in Virginia, including outlet stores in Gloucester and Williamsburg. The company is based in Hayes, Virginia.

According to the FDA, the Deluxe Mix distributed nationwide between the weeks of August 21 to January 10 may contain undeclared peanuts, milk, soy, wheat and sesame. People with allergies to these ingredients could run the risk of an allergic reaction if this product is consumed.

The mix was available for purchase through Whitley’s Peanut Factory’s website and select retail stores throughout the United States.

The Quality Assurance Department was informed of a limited number of Whit’s Party Mix tins were mislabeled with 12oz Deluxe Nut Mix labels. Whit’s Party Mix is noted to contain peanuts, milk, soy, wheat and sesame, which are not listed in the “contains” statement of the Deluxe Nut Mix label.
