Whitman County adds five cases of COVID-19; no report in Latah County

Mar. 25—Three years after the first case of COVID-19 was reported on the Palouse, only a small number of new infections were reported this past week.

Whitman County added five cases this week, according to the Washington Department of Health website. The Public Health — Idaho North Central District website didn't update its numbers this week, so Latah County showed no increase in cases.

No deaths were reported this week. Whitman County added two deaths during the week that ended March 17.

The first case of the coronavirus on the Palouse was announced March 22, 2020, in Whitman County. In the three years that followed, Whitman and Latah counties have seen a total of 17,863 cases — a number that only includes infections confirmed in a hospital or clinic setting.
