Green dresses ruled the red carpet at this year’s Academy Awards, with stars like Cate Blanchett and Rachel McAdams leading the helm.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner explained that her green dress was being worn in support of Red Carpet Green Dress (RCGD), an organization that works with the fashion industry to create more sustainable practices. Founded by James Cameron’s wife, Suzy Amis, RCGD “sets the challenge for creatives and designers worldwide to create a Red Carpet worthy dress, and now tuxedo, environmentally and socially responsible fabrics – thus fulfilling the Green Dress criteria.”
While we don’t know if that’s why all these stars wore green, it may shed some light on why this was such a popular colour this year.
