Whole Foods, ShopRite: Thanksgiving 2020 Grocery Hours In NY

NEW YORK — While Thanksgiving Day feasts are likely to be a little smaller this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, that doesn’t mean we’re less likely to forget the cranberry sauce, the gravy or the whipped topping for the pumpkin pie.

It’s a terrible feeling — but, luckily, there’s a list of grocery stores that will be open in New York for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips.

In contrast to previous years, retail giants Target and Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving.

Both chains made the decision in response to the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement released on its website, Target said the company’s goal is to "make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe and stress-free.”

Here are the hours for grocery stores that will be open on Thanksgiving Day, along with a list of those that won’t:

  • Fairway Market: Most stores will be open regular hours.

  • Rite Aid: The majority of stores will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call ahead to confirm hours.

  • ShopRite: Most stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Stew Leonard's: All stores will be open, but hours vary by location. Senior hours may not be available.

  • Stop & Shop: Connecticut, New York and New Jersey stores will be open until 5 p.m.

  • Uncle Giuseppe’s: All locations open 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Wegman's: Stores will be open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Massachusetts locations will remain closed.

  • Whole Foods: Hours vary by location. Many stores open at 7 a.m. and close as early as 2 p.m.
