Jan. 5—Swartzentruber named to Dean's List

ROME — Nicole Swartzentruber of Moultrie was named to the Fall 2023 Dean's List at Berry College. The Dean's List honors students who posted an academic average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying a class load of at least 12 hours during the semester.

Nationally recognized for academic excellence and as an outstanding educational value, Berry is an independent, coeducational, comprehensive liberal arts college of approximately 2,200 students.

Romulo earns degree from UNG

DAHLONEGA — For the fall 2023 semester, the University of North Georgia (UNG) awarded 989 degrees and certificates to graduates. Many of the graduates participated in the fall 2023 commencement ceremonies held Dec. 16 at the Convocation Center at UNG's Dahlonega Campus.

Betzaida Romulo of Moultrie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

UNG honors academic achievement

DAHLONEGA — Marcus Smith of Ochlocknee has been named to the President's Honor Roll at the University of North Georgia (UNG) for achieving a 4.0 grade point average during fall 2023.

Dr. Micahel P. Shannon, president of UNG, recognized students who reached this academic achievement during the fall 2023 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree or dual enrollment programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

In addition, the deans of each of UNG's colleges announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for fall 2023.

Dean's List recognition is achieved by having at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B. Dean's list honorees included:

* Meghan Barwick of Coolidge.

* Brittany Beckwith of Ochlocknee.

Area residents honored at Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS — Several Moultrie-area residents were among 701 students recognized on the Fall 2023 President's List, Dean's List and Academic Achievement List at Georgia Southwestern State University.

To be eligible for the President's List, a student must earn a semester GPA of 4.0 and take a minimum of 12 credit hours. Local residents on the President's List include:

* Annabelle Kinsey of Moultrie.

* Brooklyn Massey of Norman Park.

* Holli Paramore of Omega.

To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credit hours. Local residents on the Dean's List include:

* Kari Hardigree of Ochlocknee.

* Adrienne Johnston of Moultrie.

* Jessica Norman of Norman Park.

* Macy Taylor of Ochlocknee.

In addition, Nicholas Grave De Peralta, a resident of Coolidge, made the Fall 2023 Academic Achievement List. To be eligible for the Academic Achievement List, a student must previously earn at least 12 credit hours at GSW, be enrolled in 3 to 11 hours of courses, and earn a 3.5 or higher GPA.

Georgia Southwestern State University, located in Americus, Ga., is a public, four-year unit of the University System of Georgia with approximately 3,000 students.

Piedmont University names Moultrians among Dean's Scholars

DEMOREST — Kilby Hunnicutt of Moultrie and Margaret Bishop of Moultrie were among the nearly 230 Piedmont University students named Dean's Scholars for the fall 2023 semester. Students earn the Dean's Scholar designation by achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester.

Founded in 1897, Piedmont University is a private, comprehensive liberal arts institution offering a personalized higher education experience focused on student success, academic achievement, and professional development.

Mercer University announces Fall 2023 President's, Dean's Lists

MACON — Mercer University recently announced the President's List and Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester. Inclusion on these lists requires students to meet rigorous GPA standards specific to the college or school within the university.

Moultrie students who were honored included:

* Timothy Cordista, sophomore, School of Engineering, President's List.

* Kaytlin Haynes, senior, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Dean's List.

* Taylor Huffman, freshman, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Dean's List.

* Jeb Johnson, junior, School of Business, President's List.

SNHU announces Fall 2023 President's List

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) recently announced its Fall 2023 President's List. The fall terms run from September to December.

Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Moultrie-area students on the list include

* Amanda Gay of Moultrie.

* Shawn Connell of Moultrie.

* Emily Torres of Omega.

* Michael Bracht of Moultrie.
