Who's Wisconsin's favorite Batman? Fandom charts caped-crusader preferences by state
When it comes to the caped crusader, Wisconsin kicks it older-school, apparently.
According to Fandom, which bills itself as the "world's largest" entertainment and gaming fan platform, Wisconsin's favorite Batman is Michael Keaton, who played Bruce Wayne's alter ego in Tim Burton's "Batman" (1989) and "Batman Returns" (1992).
In the runup to the latest take on the character, "The Batman," opening in theaters March 4, Fandom analyzed trends based on search data on 40 million pages of content on its wiki platform to determine each state's favorite Batman, Batman villain and Justice League member.
According to their numbers, Wisconsin's favorite Batman villain is the Riddler, while Aquaman is the Badger State's No. 1 Justice League member.
Overall, Keaton was the top pick among live-action Batmen, No. 1 in 11 states; but Kevin Conroy, who voices Batman in the popular animated series, was the most-searched actor in 13 states.
The Joker and Mr. Freeze were the top villains, each topping searches in nine states, while Batman and Wonder Woman were the most-sought Justice League denizens, each carrying 11 states.
Wisconsin has plenty of Midwestern company in its preference for Keaton's Batman; Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio back him, too. Michigan and Indiana, on the other hand, were the only two states that searched most for Robert Pattison, who's playing Batman/Bruce Wayne in the movie opening in this week.
Illinois, being Illinois, picked Adam West.
