Why Adele Fans Are Hacked Off With Topshop

When Topshop posted a seemingly innocuous tweet celebrating their love for Adele, they didn’t expect it to almost break the Internet. But it did, for all the wrong reasons.

The tweet “2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate? @Adele!” was a link to their blog post titled ‘Six reasons why we are Adele’s biggest fans’ which was a props to the British singer for just generally being amaze. So far, so innocent.

But instead of the likes, shares and general love the retail giant might have expected for the post, Adele’s fans responded by slamming the retailer for not using models with the singer’s body type or stocking plus-size clothes.

“If Adele is Topshop’s no.1 right now then maybe they should start making clothing in her size,” one angry user wrote.

“Why do you exclude people with her body shape from all your collections and marketing campaigns then?” added another.

The fashion retailer currently stock sizes 4-16, but though Adele has never publicly disclosed her dress size many of her fans were quick to call out Topshop for failing to cater for curvier ladies like the singer.

“but not enough to, you know, make clothes she could wear? Ouch.” Tweeted one angry fan.

“12, 14, 16, 18, make some clothes real people fit in,” responded another.

This isn’t the first time the fashion industry has been called out about sizing of late. Earlier this year, Bryce Dallas Howard (who’s a size 10) struggled to find an ensemble to borrow for the Golden Globes and was forced to buy her own, then plus size model, Ashley Graham, revealed that finding a suitable frock for the Oscars 2016 was a complete nightmare.

Topshop are yet to respond to the comments, but who knows maybe the fuss will encourage the fashion giant to start stocking bigger sizes. ‘Rumour has it’ they’re considering it. *groans*
