RUSTON – The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will open the 2022 season, Sonny Cumbie's first, two days earlier than previously planned.

The SEC announced Thursday that season opener against Missouri was rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 1, from its original Saturday, Sept. 3.

The change occurred because of broadcast scheduling, pushing the game to a 7 p.m. start in Columbia, Missouri, that will be broadcast on ESPNU.

This marks the second season in a row where the Bulldogs kick off the season away facing an SEC opponent. In 2021 they opened the season with a 35-34 loss to Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs finished the 2021 season 3-9 overall and 2-6 in Conference-USA.

Louisiana Tech remains set to open at home on Sept. 20 vs. Stephen F. Austin at Joe Aillet Stadium. Times for the remaining games will be announced at a later date.
