Quin Ewers released a video on social media on Thursday announcing he will return to the Texas Longhorns for his senior season.

Ewers released a 37-second video explaining what being a Longhorn meant to him and letting fans know he was coming back.

“Dear Longhorn Nation, ever since I was a kid I dreamed of playing quarterback at the University of Texas. I couldn’t be more thankful to all my teammates and coaches and I’m beyond grateful to be in the position that I’m in. God has showed me who I truly am these past two years that I’ve been here and through the ups and downs these fans and this university has always had my back,” said Ewers, “With that being said, I’m coming back. Hook ‘Em.

Ewers is a San Antonio native who attended Southlake Carroll in high school and was one of the most highly regarded college recruits of all time. Ewers was only the sixth player ever to receive a 1.000 ranking from 247 Sports after Vince Young, Jadeveon Clowney, Robert Nkemdiche, Rashan Gary, and Ernie Sims.

Originally committed to Texas, Ewers would flip his commitment to Ohio State and forgo his senior year of high school to enroll early.

After one season at Ohio State, Ewers transferred to Texas to play for head coach Steve Sarkisian where he would be named starter the following season. Ewers started 10 games in his first season in Austin going 6-4 finishing the season with a 27-20 loss to Washington in the Alamo Bowl.

The following season Ewers would lead Texas to 12-2 record including a Big 12 Championship and an appearance in the College Football Playoff Semifinal where Ewers once again lost to Washington, this time by a score of 37-31.

Ewers threw for 3,479 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions during the 2023 season.

Ewers return sets Texas up as a top contender for the 2025 College Football National Championship and means Arch Manning, who also received a 1.000 rating from 247 Sports, will most likely spend next season on the bench.
