Lin Sue Flood returned to 12 News in Phoenix on Tuesday — but it was a one night only appearance.

Flood, who worked at the station from 1984 until signing off in 2015, appeared on the news broadcast as part of the 70th anniversary of 12 News. And the station is remembering and bringing back several notable anchors and reporters this week.

Mark Curtis and Caribe Devine chatted with Flood during the newscast.

"It was such fun," Flood told The Arizona Republic. "Felt like old times being in the studio with my two TV buds. The easy, natural chemistry is still there."

Jineane Ford, another former 12 News anchor, appeared in a taped video. (Ford now lives in the White Mountains and Curtis said an emergency with one of her animals prevented her from appearing live.)

During the broadcast, Flood reminisced about the camaraderie of working in a newsroom, recalling stories like the death of 19 firefighters in the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire, or reporting on 9/11.

“We were all doing our jobs with tears in our eyes, lumps in our throats,” she said.

But she also remembered honoring “everyday heroes.”

Flood is now the director of community engagement for Hospice of the Valley.

How to see more blasts from the past on 12 News this week

A tribute to the late Kent Dana aired Monday and other guests are expected during the week. The station also posted videos of some of its big moments on its website. The station will celebrate its anniversary throughout May.
