Why Huff Realty was voted best large Cincinnati company to work for, eight years in a row

For the eighth consecutive year, Huff Realty has topped the Enquirer’s list of Top Workplaces in Greater Cincinnati in the large business category.

They were among 21 companies with 500 or more employees in the region that participated in last fall’s survey. With 505 employees spread over 12 southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky locations, the private firm is headquartered in Fort Mitchell.

Chief executive officer Brad DeVries said he believes a key reason the company consistently scores high in the rankings is the respect employees show one another.

“The core values we try to uphold as a company really matter to us,’’ DeVries said. “We work real hard to treat each other with respect. Everybody works real hard to make sure each other’s dreams come true.”

In the survey, employees consistently mentioned the people they work with, the family atmosphere, flexible hours, treatment, training, office culture, and the desire to serve clients.

“I feel that I am appreciated and that management cares about me and my family on a personal level as well as a professional level. I have always been provided with the tools and training that I have needed to be successful. Huff Realty – but particularly my office – is like a family. We help one another when needed and people step up in times of need,” wrote one respondent.

“Been at this office over 25 years! I believe it is a place of honesty and integrity,’’ another said.

In its profile, officials described the company as one “built on family values, integrity and results.”

To get those results, Huff, one of the largest real estate companies in our area, offers full services including mortgage, title work, insurance, warranty, and relocation services to clients through its affiliated companies.

“The real estate market is pretty challenging right now – both for buys and sellers,” DeVries said.

He pointed to high interest rates and low inventory as part of the difficulties with the market right now.

“I believe with all my heart (employees) want to make sure they’re on top of their game. I think it matters to them when they work with a group camaraderie to get the job done,” DeVries said.

In its purpose statement, leaders write “We foster a culture empowering people to grow in their careers and give back to those who come after them.”
