Last week, Apple introduced the next-generation of iPhone camera with its first-ever pro line, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, and ELLE Decor was there. With hundreds of millions of units sold since its introduction, the iPhone is the world’s most popular camera. While each model has continued to push the boundaries of the previous model, this year’s edition marks a new era of iPhone photography (we're talking three different cameras, people!), which makes us design editors (and the A-List photographers we work with) even more giddy.

To celebrate the launch, ELLE Decor enlisted longtime ED photographer Thomas Loof to capture the very first interior photos taken with iPhone 11 Pro Max. The location: A suitably exquisite estate in Bridgehampton, New York, decorated by Cherie Zucker and filled with a MoMA-worthy collection of post-war, pop, and contemporary furniture and art, handpicked by noted curator Ben Barzune.

“The new iPhone is so quick to shoot, and it gives me so many options of shallow depth of field that I definitely explore more kinds of images than I would otherwise do,” Loof said, while photographing a 5-foot high Yayoi Kusami stainless steel pumpkin with purple polka dots in ultra wide screen.

The iPhone 11 Pro (and iPhone 11 Pro Max) have a new triple-camera system Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto cameras; it delivers huge improvements to low-light photography and offers the highest quality video in a smartphone that is great for shooting action videos.

“The video was extra special,” Loof said, while filming the dramatic winding driveway as part of our 60 second home tour. “I felt like we were flying through the air.”
