High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is finally back and while fans were hoping to see our favorite Wildcats take on High School Musical 2, fate had a different set of plans for the students at East High.

After their successful run of High School Musical, it only made sense for them to continue on going by doing the sequel. While Miss Jenn and the students believed that they were going to put on that show, things quickly changed when she bumped into her ex-boyfriend, Zack, played by Derek Hough, who is the new musical theater teacher over at North High.

She finds out that he is taking part in the Alan Menken Awards for High School Musical Theater by putting on a production of The Little Mermaid. In order to compete and try to take down North High, she decides to change the production to Beauty and the Beast. At the end, one student will get to win a scholarship at NYU, which will no doubt set up some brand new competition among the students.

Luckily for us, we did get to see them perform some songs from High School Musical 2. Rick showed off his rendition of "Bet On It," while everyone got together to sing "You Are the Music in Me" and "All For One".

Meanwhile, that wasn't the only shakeup that was revealed at the end of the episode. Nini revealed that she is moving to Denver to go study at the Youth Actors Conservatory. With the role of Belle now completely wide open, there's no telling who will take over the role and what this means for Nini and Ricky.
