Kids know exactly how they will spend Halloween: dressing up, trick-or-treating, counting their spoils and — if they have it their way — binging on candy until their tummies hurt.

But why let the kids have all the fun? Halloween weekend in Fayetteville offers plenty of ways for adults to enjoy the holiday, like goblin beer runs, glow-in-the-dark yoga and Rocky Horror events.

Of course, there are plenty of family-friendly events around town, but if you'd rather book a babysitter, we don't blame you.

Here's a list of mostly adults-only events happening Halloween weekend.

Symphony on Tap Halloween Party

Symphony on Tap, a Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra series, is featured at Heckler Brewing Company's Halloween party Thursday. A flute and violin duo will play at the free event. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and arrive early, because space is limited.

Hallowe'en Revels Night Tours of the 1897 Poe House

This is not a traditional Poe House tour. Guests are transported back in time for a series of short vignettes, while immersed in early-20th-century music and poetry. Tours run every 20 minutes beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Space is limited to 15 participants per tour. Tickets are $5 and must be purchased in advance.

Rocky Horror Singalong Trolley

Rocky Horror Singalong Trolley, hosted by the Cool Spring Downtown District with performers from a Yellow Beanie Project, is inspired by the cult-classic film, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Attendees can sing along to live performances from the film soundtrack on the 45-minute ride, which departs from Gaston Brewing Taproom at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance.

Night of the Living Dead

At 10 p.m., the lights go down and the music turns up at Huske Hardware downtown Friday for the Night of the Living Dead event. Attendees are encouraged to sport their most convincing zombie attire for a chance to be crowned king and queen of Halloween when the clock strikes midnight. Winners receive a $100 cash prize each. Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door.

Ghost & Goblins Beer Mile

The Ghost & Goblins Beer Mile is hosted by Rogue Alpha Athletics and Dirtbag Ales. Registrants are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume to run, jog, walk or crawl a 1-mile course and enjoy four 10-ounce beers along the way. Registration includes a T-shirt. Tickets are $35 and must be purchased in advance.

Halloween Party at Bright Light Brewing

The downtown hangout that bills itself as a startup nanobrewery, Bright Light Brewing Company hosts a Halloween party and costume contest Saturday. Participants can win in three categories: individual, group and pet costumes. Attendees can enjoy food from California Taco food truck, live music and of course, beer on tap. A pinata, bounce house and a witches' race round out the spooky festivities.

Halloween Glo-ga

Living Balance Studios hosts a Halloween-themed yoga class with glow sticks, spooky music, drinks and candy on Saturday. Attendees are encouraged to wear a costume for a chance to win a one-month membership to the studio. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased in advance.

A Night to Dismember: Haunted Prom

Open to adults 18 and older, Dirtbag Ales' Haunted Prom attendees should dress in ghoulish formal attire Saturday for an evening with live music, craft beer, dancing and food trucks at the Hope Mills brewery. The event is free to attend.

Twerk or Treat

Huske Twerk or Treat partygoers should limber up and put the final touches on their costumes before the event Saturday. A cash prize of $150 goes to the best costume and the top twerker, which begins at midnight. Cover charges apply.

Spooktacular Halloween Day Party

The Sip Room downtown hosts its Spooktacular Halloween Day Party on Sunday. Tickets are $26, must be purchased in advance and include a glass of sangria, chicken wings, turkey meatballs, buffalo chicken dip and salad. Costume contest winners receive a prize.
