Why Lipscomb Academy's Miller Green and MBA's Christian Lim aren't prioritizing the MLB Draft right now

Lipscomb Academy's Miller Green and Montgomery Bell Academy's Christian Lim seem to be on the same trajectory with each entering their senior years at their respective schools as two of the most dominate pitchers in Middle Tennessee.

Both are Power Five baseball signees capable of throwing no-hitters every time they hit the mound. And both are Major League Baseball Draft prospects who have dreams of being drafted but aren't tied to the thought.

"If or when it comes, I'll deal with it then," said Green, who surrendered two runs on zero hits over six innings while striking out 13 in Lipscomb Academy's walk-off 3-2 win over MBA on Tuesday. "The thought of being drafted is cool. I'm just blessed to be mentioned as a draft prospect, but I don't spend a ton of time thinking about it."

Green (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) is a Georgia Tech signee who has played alongside Lim, a 5-10, 175-pound Stanford signee, during summer showcases. Both relished the opportunity to face off during the high school season.

"My approach doesn't change but it's always fun to go against a guy like Miller," Lim said. "The competition is a little soft-spoken but each inning we're trying to go after each other out there."

Lim struck out 10 batters through five innings, giving up two hits and no runs, and the 2022 Division II-AA All-State pitcher also expressed patience in allowing the season to play out before he commits to the idea of the draft.

"This spring will be the telltale sign if I'm ready for the draft," Lim said. "But my family and I have always prioritized education. Baseball is temporary, but what stays in the brain can last a lifetime and that's why I chose Stanford in the first place."

Lim walked off the mound in the fifth with a 1-0 lead for MBA (3-3). By the seventh, the Mustangs (4-4) made their move. Miller singled-in the tying run before Bryant Loving's game-winning, two-out RBI base hit.

Miller has steadily increased his velocity over the past year and is hitting low- to mid-90s on the radar gun.

"I'm kind of tall and skinny, so I didn't always know where the ball was going to go," he said. "But I've gotten stronger and my control is much better. I feel like I'm only going to get better if I keep working."
