Why look for a purse thief? Because of what was in the purse. And it was in a police car

Davie police released surveillance camera stills Wednesday of two women who stole a purse from an unlocked car. The purse contained a semi-automatic handgun.

And the unlocked car, Davie police said, was an unmarked police car.

The department did not disclose which law enforcement agency’s officer and car were victimized. What is known, according to Davie police, is that the crime happened in the 2800 block of Southwest 117th Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Aug. 21. The two women drove away in what appeared to be a Buick Regal.
