Why Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Aren't at This Year's Emmys
A lot of stars showed up in Los Angeles on Sunday for the Emmys, but neither Miley Cyrus or her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth are among them. The red carpet just ended, and neither was photographed there solo.
This isn't too surprising: Cyrus and Hemsworth don't have any nominations. While Cyrus did appear in an episode of Black Mirror, her work wasn't nominated. The series' interactive "Bandersnatch" choose-your-own-adventure episode got nominations for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media Within a Scripted Program and for Best Television Movie. Cyrus appeared in an episode released later, "Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too" where she played disillusioned pop star Ashley O.
Neither Cyrus nor Hemsworth have attended the Emmys in the past. They have attended the Vanity Fair Oscar after party multiple times before though. In one of their last appearances together as a married couple, they went to the Vanity Fair Oscars after party this past February.
There's a possibility Cyrus could attend an Emmy after party later though she was in Las Vegas last night. Cyrus recently ended her first post-Hemsworth relationship with Kaitlynn Carter, so they wouldn't attend together as dates.
Hemsworth, meanwhile, has remained in Australia with his family.
Cyrus dispelled cheating rumors last month on her Twitter. She explained infidelity is not why their relationship ended.
"Once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed," she wrote. "There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP. I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will. BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking , foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar. I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where i was when I was a younger.
