To mitigate this risk the U.S. and Europe have passed a new regulation that requires EV's to emit a sound while driving under 18.6 mph or 30 kph to replace the sound of an engine. Automakers like BMW, Volkswagen, and Nissan are working with music composers to design sounds for their EVs.
