Here’s why a popular Conway fried chicken restaurant is closed and when it will re-open

A Conway fried chicken restaurant that has been open for decades is closed for now.

Maryland Fried Chicken at 1620 Church St. is currently not open, with a handwritten sign hanging on the door; the restaurant has not been permanently shut down. The sign, adorned with two smiley faces, said that the eatery was closed for remodeling and would re-open on Jan. 8, 2023.

Andrea Johnson is the restaurant owner, and in an interview with The Sun News, said the eatery was redoing the kitchen floor and buffing the dining room floor. Johnson added that Maryland Fried Chicken could not stay open and complete the remodeling at the same time but was excited to start serving customers again soon.

The restaurant chain has several locations throughout South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Myrtle Beach’s location is at 939 North Kings Highway.
