Wichita company expands the farthest it’s been yet: New Jersey

Genesis Health Clubs once again is expanding, but this time the new state — the club’s 10th — is somewhat surprising.

A lot of the company’s health clubs are centered around the Midwest, but now it owns two in New Jersey. That’s the farthest northeast Genesis has expanded so far.

The company purchased the Atlantic Club Manasquan and the Atlantic Club Red Bank, which make its 67th and 68th clubs.

“To say we’re excited about acquiring The Atlantic Club would be an understatement,” said Genesis owner and president Rodney Steven II in an e-mailed statement. “There aren’t many clubs in the entire nation with as much history, success and impact on people’s lives. We’re excited to be able to jump into something that’s already working so well, and re-invest in it and help them keep doing what they’re doing.”

Genesis, which bills itself as “the largest and fastest-growing privately owned fitness provider in the United States,” is now in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Kentucky, Indiana, Florida and New Jersey.

It sounds like there will be more news to come in the northeast.

As Steven said in his statement, “We’ve got big plans for the region now and in the future, and we can’t wait to share more soon!”
