Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation welcomes new board members

A local foundation aiming to improve life for Wichitans and others has appointed three new board members, according to a media release.

The Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation is welcoming Danny Cremeens, Mark Fleming and Katie Parkey to the WFACF Board of Directors.

WFACF President Leslie Schaffner said the foundation's strength is in the experience of its leadership.

"Each new board member brings a wealth of knowledge and skills from their respective professions and experiences, as well as their community engagement," Schaffner said in the media release.

"We are excited to welcome them to the team,” she said.

Danny Cremeens
Danny Cremeens

Cremeens is the senior vice president/branch president for First Capital Bank of Texas. He made a lot of moves as the son of an Air Force master sergeant.

But when the family settled in Burkburnett in 1978, that felt like home. Since graduating from Midwestern State University, Cremeens has enjoyed a long career in the banking industry, working his way up from a bank teller to executive positions.

Mark Fleming

Active in numerous Burkburnett organizations, he was named Burkburnett Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2018, now serves as vice chair of the Sheppard Military Affairs Committee and a member of the Burkburnett Legacy Foundation Board.

Fleming, owner of Spectrum Royalty Co., has a long history with numbers and nonprofits.

Before launching Spectrum Royalty, he was a certified public accountant with Edgin, Parkman, Fleming & Fleming, PC, where he was the firm’s quality control shareholder, specializing in not-for-profit audits.

Katie Parkey
Katie Parkey

Most recently, Fleming served as chairman of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Board. He was instrumental in overseeing construction of the $18 million expansion to the Bill Bartley Family Branch YMCA.

Parkey, a longtime community volunteer and health professional, has been entrenched in the North Texas nonprofit community for over two decades.

She has lent leadership expertise to multiple organizations, including the city of Henrietta for park development and serving as president of the Junior League of Wichita Falls and chair of the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra Board.

Parkey currently serves as a member of the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture Board. Katie is a nurse, and her family is active in the ranching business in Clay County.

Additionally, three long-time board members will retire at the end of 2022, following ten years of dedicated service.

Nancy Marks most recently served two years as chairwoman of the WFACF Board.  Tim Cornelius is completing his tenure, most recently serving as chairman of the Grants Committee.

And Craig Reynolds, who served several years as grants chair, most recently led the Development Committee for the foundation.

During their tenue, the foundation experienced tremendous growth, including a move from downtown to Parker Square, implementation of the Texoma Gives event and a senior staff leadership change.

The purpose of the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation is to work with individuals, nonprofit organizations and businesses to build stronger communities through charitable partnerships.

The Foundation’s mission is to promote philanthropy, provide charitable opportunities, facilitate donors’ interests and leave a legacy for future generations.
