Wichita Racial Profiling Advisory Board: Whipple’s the best for battling biased policing | Commentary

The Wichita Racial Profiling Advisory Board is proud to endorse Brandon Whipple in his re-election campaign for mayor of Wichita.

For the first time in the history of this organization, we are endorsing a candidate for mayor, because the stakes are too high.

Our mission:

▪ Work with law enforcement to change policies and eliminate racial biases through improved training and education.

▪ Increase knowledge and awareness in citizens regarding their constitutional rights.

▪ Craft laws that create accountability for law enforcement.

▪ Racial bias prevention.

When we first learned about the racist text messaging scandal, we were all on alert.

Whipple immediately demanded a third-party review of the culture and policies within the Wichita Police Department.

He brought us to the table and worked to ensure that this review worked on the issues we have been trying to address for years, without much success.

Our commitment to addressing the Wichita Fraternal Order of Police and the contract with the city was reaffirmed when the FOP refused to acknowledge their role in this scandal.

Whipple has demonstrated he is dedicated to the safety and security of all Wichita residents and proven that he is the mayor for all of Wichita.

He deserves four more years.
